BAD WEEK

Nifty50 on Friday fell and closed below its 50-day moving average. The index formed a bearish candle on the daily chart, with a lower wick, reflecting the support that the NSE barometer took intraday near its 200-day moving average.

The pandemic weakened the demand on transportation, mining and industrial, early last year, as customers had to temporarily idle their manufacturing facilities amid the restrictions imposed by the governments globally. The fabricated metal products industry has come out of the slump, as evident from growth in new orders, production and backlog levels.

The aggregate production of fabricated metal products in the United States has been up 9.8% in the fourth quarter of 2021, which followed growth of 2.3% and 3.1% in the third and second quarters, respectively. In February, the industry's production level improved 2.1% on a year-over-year basis. On a trailing 12-month basis until February, production grew 7.9%.

WHAT ELSE HAPPENED?
AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. surprised us with the news of an investment in a gold and silver mine that is well outside of its core cinema business.

The company is buying 22% of Hycroft Mining Holding Corp. HYMC, +3.13% and its 71,000 acre Hycroft Mine in Northern Nevada, that is understood to have 15 million ounces of gold deposits and some 600 million ounces of silver deposit.

AMC, down -2.46% will also receive 23.4 million warrants priced at $1.07 a share, a discount over Hycroft shares closing price Monday of $1.37.

AMC’s success in recent years in guiding through a period of severe liquidity challenge caused by the coronavirus pandemic, in strengthening its balance sheet and in resonating with retail investors gives it experience it can bring to Hycroft, which has seen its share price hurt by its own liquidity challenges
